This month's small business goes to.... New to You Vintage Store!
Michelle Nugent, Owner of this Point Boro small business, is one of the coolest hippy chicks I know. Her store has some interesting art pieces (ask her about them, she’s got stories!), lots of vintage clothing (new and gently worn), colorful vintage shoes, and handmade jewelry. I never saw so many colorful vintage dresses in one place!
About a year ago, I would drive past the store on my way to work and notice a colorful tiedye flag blowing in the wind next to a storefront with an opened door. I felt like I had known Michelle my whole life when I walked in for the first time. We were so excited to meet each other! I think that experience is what makes New to You a unique place in my community; a sociable business owner that makes anybody feel welcomed while giving the creative people in a community a venue to sell their work. Michelle has a unique sense of what items belong in her store, and her personality only adds to the appeal. Not to mention, I’m always advocating for the arts and some sense of culture in Point Pleasant/Boro and I think New to You provides a venue for crafters and people who want to stand out in some awesome clothing. I decided to buy a fancy dress and cute vintage hat yesterday from the store. No I did not pick vegetables in this!
