What a year it's been

It's been a memorable, eventful, busy year and Daimon and I didn't waste a single day of it.

This year...

We got a cat! Our hansom Flame Tip Siamese, Little Richard, has made our apartment more like a home, and I can't imagine my life without him.

Daimon and I visited a few new places this year- a weekend in Sleepy Hollow, a roadtrip to visit some roadside attractions in Connecticut, we camped in the pine barrens, and stayed in a hotel in New York. We experienced NJ and NY in a whole new way.

I made some purchases this year that I never would have made in the past. They really were luxeries too, because I never had extra money to get the things I really wanted. It made it all the more sweeter to save up and indulge a little:  A new tv AND supernintendo (that was a big one!), a new bass guitar, 2 beach badges, a membership for our local artist guild, and my sea foam green beach bike equipped with a basket that I've wanted since I was a kid.

Daimon and I went full force with our project, Bone & Marrow, and played in unique settings and venues.  We're still refining our sound and we anticipate more opportunities in 2015.

We had our first year anniversary!

I've really matured this year as a teacher, and even taught a college class at Brookdale Community College.  I got over the first-year blues.

Volunteering has been on my weekly schedule more and more lately.  I've been volunteering at the local homeless youth shelter, Harbor House, for many years now, but I started a second volunteering gig at a farm, and it's been so satisfying.  I can't wait to shave the sheep in the spring.

I cooked a lot more.  It's suddenly become something I look forward to do, when only a year ago I dreaded making a meal. I can finally cook up something with confidence that guests will love it. ( I don't really take any pictures of my meals, so I figured a shot from our spicy pickle party would be a better substitute.)

I had my first solo art show.

Finally, a studio space to call my own! Only last February our roommate moved out and I took over his room.  It's one of my favorite places to be, and I've made a lot of work in it too!

There were so many surprises, and damn do I love surprises, especially ones I put together :P

Happy New Year everyone! I hope your 2015 is filled with love, health, and happiness!
