It was a great trip on so many levels. Asheville is a place I can look forward to visiting, and possibly moving to, in the future. It was even more than I could have expected because of the people I travelled with. The band, Homeless Apians, and Bone & Marrow teamed up for a few days to do a Sun Session in an interesting location and play a show at the Sly Grog in downtown Asheville. It was sad to leave that beautiful old home we stayed in and greatly appreciated the hospitality of the singer songwriter Chloe Demos.
Before the show, we walked around to meet some musicians busking, stopped in some very unique stores (you tell me where else you've ever seen a honey tasting bar??), and I had to get a picture with this iron.
A few friends from Jersey came all the way to NC to see us play and it made the trip even more exciting and fun to explore this new place with a big group. Come on guys, put down the guitars for a group shot.
On the way home, we took a random turn off the highway to find fuel and passed a Teapot house. It was the first time I saw a roadside attraction without making a plan and expecting to see one.
About half way home, we made arrangements for a recording session in a very unique place. This is a screen shot from footage currently being edited and put together. More details coming soon!
Now that we're back, I've been preparing for the film photography show that begins tomorrow. I look forward to setting up the show and seeing all my work with "fresh eyes". I like to pretend I'm the viewer and have never seen the work before. The show runs until August 1st at the Toms River Library, downstairs gallery.
