My first photography show

The last day of school finally came and went, and now I'm a free bird! I've got a list a mile long of things to accomplish before September 1st (I suppose that might be an exaggeration)....

I can't cross it off the list yet, but I'm almost done preparing frames and picking up film for the photography show starting July 1st at the Toms River Library. It was nerve wracking to make sure I had enough work for the exhibition, but was an enjoyable challenge to round up some friends for photo shoots the past 2 months.

The theme of the show is "People in their Element", doing what they love to do.  It's both editorial and candid. Many of my subjects have day jobs, but their creativity and passions are unique to them and also worth taking the time to understand.  We are all able to be creative and deserve to be happy, and this show's aim is to call attention to the fact that we are our true selves when we do what matters the most to us.  I'm honored to have people in my life who exhibit hardworking qualities and dedication to their craft and life goals.  Every single person represented in the show has rubbed off these qualities on me, and my hope is to capture their spirits and personalities on both color and black and white film.  This is my tribute to both the creative people in my life and to those who are proud of what they love to do.

Some of those who are represented in the show include:

Daimon Santa Maria (obviously! but his craft you'll have to wait to see yourself)
Julie Lockwood (The flexible femme fetale)
Billy Fullam (the print maker)
Jay Sales (the songwriter)
Robert Schuster (the bird aficionado)
Tiffany Asraf (the metalworker)
Sun Lab Studio during a sun session
And the beautiful Aqua Maureen (lover of all that is vintage )

This small business owner, Miss Maureen, is getting a spot light soon.  Check back to see the write up with some more pictures from our shoot. In the mean time, check out Change IS Vintage in Belmar.
