In just a few days I'll be getting back into the swing of things, teaching at a special needs high school. It will be my 3rd year there, and I'm sure it'll be a better, more productive year since I'll be teaching art history and media arts every day.
It was a different summer from past ones. In august my hair matched my vintage seafoam green beach cruiser, and I rode from Seaside Heights to the apartment often. After nearly 3 years of neglect, my sewing machine finally got to stretch her legs, because The Cutting Crane is going to be replacing my little sewing business Creative Coop. It's the first time in a long time that I've been preparing for craft shows and an etsy store. I didn't work every single day, but spent time on many porches going through bags of fiber to spin into yarn. I taught myself more about art history and the history of film, photography and animation. My head is so packed with information; it was all so fascinating!
It was a summer of S O U N D S. We heard so many strange birds, cicadas, airplanes, and "Watch the Tram Car Please!"
It was a summer of sun and clouds! Sun every day is something I could never get sick of! We saw so many beautiful sunsets with the most saturated and radiant oranges and reds. It was a summer of giant tomatoes. It was a summer of travel to new places like Rhode Island and North Carolina. It was also a summer for so many of our friends to tour with their band and travel to new places (and a few came back with engagement rings, woo hoo!). And lastly, it was a summer of newfound confidence. Because I wasn't wrapped up in so many distracting things, I could take time to reflect, be proud of who I am, and look and act any way I want to. It was a summer of, "Who cares! It's the summer!"
September is the best time to jump in the ocean and savor the last bits of summer. Once all these powerpoints are done, you know I'll be there!
