Even if you don't know me personally, you could probably tell just from reading my blog how many different things I am involved in. I like to stay busy and active, but I noticed that I haven't been nurturing my adventurous spirit in a while or visiting a place out of the ordinary. In other words, I haven't been out of my comfort zone much. So, I'm making more of an effort to DO or TRY something new every day, at least for a whole month before the holidays.
Day 1- I went to the park on a rare and beautiful day this November. It was a whopping 67 degrees! I threw a blanket down in a private space by an old, tall tree. I took a nap in the sun, and my left cheek is still a little redder than the other. That experience taught me what it means to feel safe when you're alone.
Day 2- Rock climbing... well not in the traditional sense. A few friends and I went to an indoor facility, where we were given a harness and tested to know a special knot. Well, at least I passed that test, because I failed miserably at climbing. That experience taught me something about not putting yourself down because you can't do something. It also humbled me to not feel invincible; that I can do anything I want when I clearly can not!
Day 3- While in the car , with Daimon, I spontaneously said, "Hey, let's go to the mall." We both looked at each other and thought the same thing.... when was the last time we walked around in the mall together? That's not a place we find ourselves in often. Clothes shopping is like an activity from the distance past for me. All in all, we had a great time looking at all the strange things you might see at the mall, like a mannequin with a glove display dress (that was unusual...) or observing the many types of tacky clothes and poor color choices for clothes! I learned that you should make time to do silly things with your partner in crime. I also wondered, isn't there any color theory being applied to what we consume?? It's no wonder I never buy clothes!
Day 4- Well, today is day 4, and I intend to attend this event, which is definitely out of the ordinary.
