Obsessed with the Dead!

It feels as though this is the season to have no shame walking around in a skeleton suit, buying your cat a skeleton sweater, and teaching students about the mummification process in art history. I don't know about all the other art history teachers out there, but October feels like it should be nicknamed "Ancient Civilization Awareness Month".  Here's some of the work of my students.

Homemade "papyrus" woven using the same pattern the Egyptians used thousands of years ago. Inside the cartouche is the students' name, suggesting he is royalty.

The students chose from one of the four sons of Horus and sculpted their own canonic jar.  They were given a few extra credit points if they sculpted the corrected organ to go inside their vessel.

On a different note, the all-girls showcase at the Asbury Hotel was another success; the room was filled with so much love and support by every single attendee.  People we've never met wanted to hop on mic to speak their minds about being a woman in this country, in a third world country, or in the music scene.  It was an insightful, entertaining, and revealing evening.  Venus Envy hired these look alikes to play our songs and they pulled it off pretty well!

Venus Envy and Bone and Marrow have both been pretty productive this past month.  Even after we released an album nearly 2 months ago, we made time to record a new song for the Speak into My Good Eye Songwriter's Challenge.  Every dollar spent on a song goes entirely to the City of Angels in New Jersey, which helps guide people with addition to treatment and support them in their recovery.  You can listen and download here. Enjoy!
