My noise-maker toad stares blankly at me as I type out this blog post. He's just as much as a procrastinator as I am! Sometimes I stare at this laptop screen and question if I've done anything all day worth mentioning.
It's hard to find the motivation to do some of the little things you want to do. I'm trying to make it a habit that I do one thing on my large to-do list as soon as I wake up in the morning; even before I shower and eat. So this morning, I finally got around to making watercolor icecubes. It took only a few minutes to mix the colors and put them in the freezer. When the cubes are frozen, you slide them around on watercolor paper in a box and so what you come up with. I thought this idea was original and hoped to try it with students having multiple disabilities. However, I have found that many bloggers have used watercolor ice cubes with the Kindergarten population. That's ok; it's still a fun idea!
Also, I'm volunteering with Ocean's Harbor House as the visiting art teacher and plan on doing a lesson on Using Scratchboard to make meaningful works of art in black and white. Check out this one by artist Nico Delort.
And this one's great too; by artist Michelle Dick.
It's a rainy summer day and that does help with the procrastinating artist. It's when it's summer and beautiful out that you get cabin fever and find reasons not to pay any mind to homework. Ah.. you feel like a student when you're a teacher.
