Back from Gettys-boig

It was the first time I had ever been in Gettysburg when it was 80 degrees and sunny all weekend. Although the 4 of us had hoped to bundle up for our late night walks and midnight ghost tours, I was so comfortable and satisfied getting an apple pie ice cream and eating it in the hot sun.
We just so happened to be in Gettysburg the same weekend as "Antique Fest"!  Score!

Souvenirs from the weekend.  Those Carrot head S & P's flaunting their butts were a weird and awesome find.

My only ghostly picture from the trip.  Bottom left- what appears to be a fluorescent cucumber.

Look at my knees and say cheeeeeese.

With an authentic Gettysburg birch beer in hand, we marched over to this photographer's studio for a photoshoot.  Each plate is a work of art and an heirloom.  We each held our poses for about 15 seconds  and watched it develop.  It was worth every penny.

Not a bad picture for an Iphone!

Gettin' dolled up.

Last minute I decided to get one of my own.  I didn't want to take a reinactment photo, but more of a self portrait.  While I considered some eleborate image with beads, feathers, and cameras as props, the photographer had something else in mind.  I loved the simplicity of his idea and he was really excited to do it. He spent some time trying to get the pose and expression just right. He positioned his mid 1800's camera lens to line up exactly with the one I'm holding in the picture. He titled it "The First Selfie".  I know it's a haunting, eery image, but I still think it's a beautiful idea to capture.  And now I have this plate forever; an image marking who I was at age 27 (well.. truthfully I'll be 27 in a few days hehe).
