Celebrating 10 years

I've been Daimon's lady for 10 years... wow! Now that's a reason to do something out of the ordinary...

I treated Daimon to a straight razor shave (which I found fascinating to watch) and he commissioned one of our innovative friends to use his craft of recycling materials to make musical instruments.  This wind chime (note the film camera base) has tubing that is cut to play specific notes when the wind blows.  The notes are from one of our songs; such a unique idea! He can make any song of your choosing into a custom chime- EKG Percussion.

Daimon and I took the day off during the week to go up to the COSM in New York State for our anniversary.  Last year we spent an over-nighter in New York City, but this year we decided to visit the mountains to explore.  We spent the night at the Chapel of Sacred mirrors; an ideal place to retreat if you have a curious spirit. When we arrived, we were greeted by Alex and Alison and couldn't wait to see our room, which was decorated with original works by them both.  There's a lot of little things to see and find, books to read in their library, and nooks in their beautiful home. We fell asleep to the sounds of Grey's Treefrogs and rain. The next morning we took a hike on their "Wisdom Trail", which had many rock stackings and sculptures in the woods.  It was one of the most photogenic places I've been to in a long time.  Every turn and corner had something worth contemplating or snapping a photo of.  We liked the healthy breakfast options too; I had a giant organic orange and coffee.

This was one of the original pieces we slept next to.  I never had so many eyes on me.

The spontaneous rain, clouds and sun added some great memories to exploring the mountains.

At one point, I dropped my film camera in a river as we were crossing a fast-moving area to go from bank to bank. Daimon found an old bottle and a bone, and caught a snake.  I had wet socks, sneakers and wet film camera. I hope the double exposures on that roll come out!

Our much needed stay proved to make the week go by so fast. I can't believe the weekend is nearly here already, and my second year of teaching will be done. I can't tell you how excited I am for the summer, riding my bike to the beach at snail speed on my beach cruiser. I also look forward to the traveling, and playing our music in other states.
