My students have been busy!

Once a week, I teach ceramics to elementary students after school through the Monmouth County Park System. Once a week, I teach elementary students drawing after school through a small company, and every day I'm trying to make Media Arts and Art History as interesting as possible in a special needs school. As you can probably imagine, I am always busy planning and busy teaching. Somehow, I do make time to do other things I care about, but my work often comes first. I haven't shared some of my students' work in a while, and they deserve some credit!

Students designed their own medieval weaponry and embossed their gilded sword with a phrase or symbol.

A student spent 4 weeks on this paper mosaic of a crab.

A visiting artist, Jordan Garofolo, visited the school to do a demonstration on stained glass. The students used the glass cutters and observed the steps needed to create a stained glass panel.  It helped to build an appreciation for the many gothic churches who utilized this art form.

Students have been creating their own stained glass windows using acetate and acrylics. They look so beautiful on their desks, but are even more spectacular when taped to a window.

A third grader drew this very life-like feather!
