Piling in the van; Ithaca Bound

It hasn't been an easy transition from spending time with free spirited, adventurous folk to working with my challenging population of students. The weekend was like medicine for my spirit. The 6 of us piled in the "Sun Lab" van (the portable recording studio on wheels) and headed to Ithaca, New York to watch the Homeless Apians play a set at the Nines.

We had a few adventures along the way. We visited the absolutely stunning Lucifer Falls in Robert Treman State Park and Taughannock Falls State Park. Who cares that it was all dried up?! The scenery looked like something out of Zion State Park. Daimon and I both agreed it was unlike any other experience we've had. The scenery looked so surreal.

While we were visiting the parks, my film camera was giving me a very hard time. I decided to invest in a more reliable one, so I treated myself to a Nikon FM. With a 200 mm lens, I'm sure I'll be having a lot of fun with it before the trees are bare.

We also visited a cemetery while we were away for the weekend. Not just any cemetery, but the cemetery that has Rod Serling's tombstone! People left little gifts for him, some of which were labeled with their favorite twilight zone episode.

Amen Amen my soul replies
I'm bound to meet you in the skies
And claim my mansions there
Now here's my heart and here's my hand
To meet you in that heavenly land
Where we shall part no more.
