Since I started this blog, I've posted nearly every year about the Asbury Park Music Awards. I've belonged to this music scene since I was in my teens, and the music awards was established when I was only 5. It's a long-running annual event, and I can't tell you how shocked I was to see my name listed again and again under different categories. Nothing else could have topped seeing "Hear Me Roar Women Artists Showcase" listed under the "Best Things to Happen to Asbury Park in 2016. That kind of recognition was just what the movement needed.
Daimon was nominated for Top Male Vocalist, Bone & Marrow was nominated for top local album release, top local single, top music video, and top song of the year. I can't believe I'm saying it... but there's more. I was nominated for top female vocalist and my name was listed with the Hear Me Roar nomination. We don't have to win a thing; we were recognized. We have to give a huge shout out to Scott and Meg at the Saint who host the event every year. They've been supporting us since day one.
Download the ballot, vote, and come out to see the show and award ceremony this Thursday!
The night before the show, this Hear Me Roar show has some new voices, faces, and talent, all to benefit the protestors at Standing Rock.
