I have such a deep love for embroidery and working with thread. I'm slowly moving away from using thread with a needle and focusing more on ways to allow the thread to move or "paint" itself with the help of sandwiching thread with glass. Here's some of my recent work exploring this method:
I love to look up what new embroidery artists are doing and I'm noticing that there's a balance between the super kitchy and genuine inventiveness. Here's some embroidery artists that I'm really impressed by.
I stumbled upon this artist's work and loved her sense of color and her commonly used motifs.

I have to give some credit where it's due- Jenny Hart is one of the reasons that I started to do embroidery in the first place.
Louise Riley has a fantastic sense of color too and she does some really incredible work: http://louiseriley.blogspot.com/
I've seen this kind of work done many-a-time, but not quite like Maurizio. There's a real beauty in the forms that are created with thread.

I have another embroidery underway. I recently acquired vintage thread wrapped in gold leaf, and it's too stunning to stay on the shelf. Stay tuned!
