On the hunt at Double Trouble State Park

Many moons ago, I did a blogpost on my first love:  herpetology! (You can check that out here.)  So, I was pretty excited about waking up early this morning to do some exploring with some friends. Today we caught a few critters while floating down the river on our boogie boards. A dragonfly landed on my head while I was quietly stalking this leopard frog. I caught him too!

Daimon got bit a few times but it was worth it.
Our friend Matt Brown, frontman of the band Bog Iron Bloom, is quite an amateur herpetologist himself!  This little mud turtle was found under all tall grass when he was snorkeling.

Double Trouble is free, less crowded than beaches, and a great place to be a kid again. We'll definitely be going back before the summer's over.
