Small Business of August

This month's spolight goes to one my favorite places...
Atlantic Farms, in Farmingdale NJ

Atlantic Farms is known for the hayrides, corn maze, and friendly animals, but I wanted to feature the farm because I love it for its huge field of flowers. You can pick as many as you want, take as many pictures as you want, and admire the varying kinds of butterflies fluttering around the field. One landed on me today; I wasn't ready with my camera!

You can anticipate seeing deer, a peacock, cows, pigs, lots of sheep, llamas, emus, and chickens. The people at the farm are very nice and take great care of the animals. Most of the animals are rescued from homes that can no longer care for them. Years ago,  I dropped off rooster to the farm  and he's still there! He's the one with the crazy hairdo; he looks likes this:

They have lots of produce, pies, an awesome variety of jams and desserts, and bags of carrots you can purchase.  Of course I treat my sister Andrea to a bag every time we go.

(no saturation enhancements here!)

I've been going to Atlantic Farms since I had a mullet in the early 90's hehe. You pay only $3 per dozen flowers you pick and $2 to go into the farm and pet all the animals, it's the best $5 date to do with your hunny. I usually end up spending $9 when I finish picking all the flowers. The flowers are nearly all gone or dying around the first week of September, so head over there soon! It's the 3rd exit at the first circle on rt. 35.  Nothing like supporting a local farm.
